It’s been a long, arduous week of cleaning, sorting, and pitching stuff out of my shop, and it looks like I’ve hardly made a dent for my efforts! I’m ready to start building my sailboat, but I must square away the shop and get it ready first. I’d really prefer to build inside rather than outside the shop, so all this work will be worth it and its way past due anyway. I’m no longer taking on any more projects for anyone until I get my boat built – this is my number one priority.
I have lots of tools, equipment, and inventory from past businesses I owned years ago. Selling most of this stuff will free up quite a bit of space and help finance the project. So, identifying, marketing, and selling this stuff has just as much priority as clearing the shop and prepping it to start the boat building project.
My 28-foot sailing dory design is still being planned for a future build once enough funds have been saved up, but the 18-footer is a very doable design to build and get me back to sea right now in a relatively short amount of time!
The 28-foot sailing dory will be named S/V Downeast Thunder, and the smaller 18-foot modified sharpie might be named S/V Tiny Rumble. I’m not sure yet. I’d love to hear any suggestions from all of you that have been following my videos. Who knows? There might be a little bling in it for the individual that comes up with a name I decide to adopt!
