I’m making this episode (Part 4) the final segment of the anchor build series.
I make a jig to bend the 5/8” round bar in a semi-circle to make the roll-over bar for the anchor. I pulled out my homemade forge to heat up the round bar till it’s cherry red in order to bend it around the jig, BUT…..I discovered I’m fresh out of coal for the forge! The store where I buy the coal locally is closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Therefore, this part of the build will have to wait, so I’ll just call this series good and probably include some video of this in one of my subsequent sailboat build videos.
All that’s left to do is to prime and paint, so in this video I’ve included a mini-tour of my forge and have applied the first coat of primer. I hope you’ve enjoyed this mini-series and will consider subscribing to my YouTube channel if you haven’t already done so.
Coronavirus update: As of this afternoon (April 1st, 2020) extending through the entire month of April: Governor Mills has put the State of Maine on “House Arrest.” Anyone caught out and about is subject to a $1000.00 fine and 6 months in the slammer. There are a few exceptions narrowly defined, but we’re basically confined to staying in place. If I need any more materials to finish this project, I’m out of luck until all of this COVID-19 business blows over and we are free again to move about.
Here’s the video:
