Now that the bottom panels are in place, I must prepare the hull for the fiberglass coating.
In this video, I trim the excess material from the bottom panels that are overhanging the side panels. The edges of the bottom panels are ground and sanded smooth and flush with the side panels. The edges are then radiused. Then the joints between the plywood bottom panels are filled with epoxy and milled fibers. Following that, I begin filling all the countersunk screw holes with polyester based wood filler, catalyzed with MEKP cream hardener. All that is remaining is to sand all the surfaces smooth so they are ready to be coated with polyester resin and fiberglass cloth. That part I omitted from the video because sanding is boring and who really wants to watch hours of that?
