I’ve received several inquiries regarding the design of my new 18’ pocket cruiser sailboat, S/V Ooh-Rah still under construction. Many questions had to do with wanting to know who the designer is and the considerations and thoughts that went into developing the design.

S/V Ooh-Rah was designed by me. I’m a retired naval architect and marine engineer. I also owned and ran a wooden boat shop on Cape Cod that was adjacent to my yacht design practice before selling all of my property and moving to Downeast Maine, almost 18 years ago.

How was the S/V Ooh-Rah design developed and why? What were mt thoughts during the design phase? This video is a compilation of earlier videos I made as the design process began over 2-1/2 years ago. I think it answers most questions that have been asked.

Why design and begin building a new sailboat after so many years in Maine? I gave the “farming thing” a good try but felt a strong urge to return to the sea. Since we live along Maine’s “Bold Coast,” this calling was indeed quite strong. I hope you enjoy the video.
