There has been quite a lot of work going on around here at Downeast Thunder Farm and Shoestring Shipyard has been suffering as a result. That being said, there was a strong need to take a break and get away for the afternoon. My wife suggested we take a ride down the coast to Schoodic Point, a part of Acadia National Park, just outside of Winter Harbor on the mainland.
I used an old iPhone to take a few video clips and put a short video together to share with all of you. My wife, Gidget the wonder dog, and I, are in the video. We needed this!
Schoodic Point is located under the lee of Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor area) so we were thankfully blocked from the heaviest of the wind (there’s only a couple of miles of fetch), and therefore the waves were very small, but the surf you see from the video is from the ocean swells. The swells are from Hurricane Fiona that missed us completely, staying well offshore, but made it’s way to the Canadian Maritimes.
