Driveway Repair with New (Homestead Implements) Box Blade

box blade on tractor

I’ve been itching to try out my new box blade from Homestead Implements in Jamestown, NY, but we’ve had a lot of rain and the potholes in our driveway are so large, they look like small ponds! I finally decided to go over the driveway anyway to move much of the water out so the driveway can dry out faster. The first part of the video shows those results. A few days later, I was able to get back out there and work the box blade up and down the driveway.

I pulled up quite a few large rocks out of the drive, and I had to continually jump off and, on the tractor, to move them out of the way. This is because our driveway was made with “bank-run” gravel that had a lot of large rocks in it. This is the first time the driveway has seen any love since we first put it in about 18 and a half years ago.

At first, I kept the box blade level so I could concentrate on knocking off high spots and filling the low spots. Later, I tilted the box blade down to the right so I could start shaping a crown on the driveway. I have more work to do here, and I must bring in some crushed stone to complete the work, but I’m very pleased with the initial results. Homestead Implements really manufactures a superior product.

Using this box blade has convinced me to look at Homestead Implements again when it comes time to purchase my next tractor attachment.

This box blade is the heavy-duty, “Pinnacle” series, made to order by Homestead Implements. They even painted it New Holland blue to match our tractor! I made this video to give all of you a glimpse of what I discovered as I unpacked the unit and gave it a cursory walk-around inspection.
