Now that the hull is right side up, it is time to fabricate the two outside ballast keels.

The first step is to build the molds to hold the concrete and scrap steel. The molds will also become a permanent part of the ballast keels and as such, they will be coated with fiberglass inside and out prior to being filled with the concrete and scrap steel.

This is time consuming work as templates must be made to assure the ballast keels will properly fit the hull. The mold components require more time to coat the surfaces with resin and glass cloth, and of course a grid of rebar also has to be fabricated to fit each mold and have keel bolts welded to them.

This is only Part 1 with much more to follow.
